Re: Operating Budget
The University of Hawai`i—Office of Research Services is providing $15,000 to the Department
of Public Works to be used to purchase materials for road maintenance along Keanakolu Road
(Mana Road), the main road to the Mauna Kea Watershed Alliance project site.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the University of
Hawai`i—Office of Research Services for this grant. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance
amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $15,000 grant award.

A. REQUEST:
To accept and acknowledge a grant from the University of Hawaii Office of Research Service, Mauna Kea
Watershed Alliance (MKWA), in the amount of$15,000 to fund the purchase of materials for road
maintenance along Keanakolu Road (Mana Road), the main road to the MKWA project site.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
MKWA is coordinating watershed management activities and inter-agency coordination and has designated
$15,000 to the County of Hawaii Department of Public Works to fund the purchase of materials for road
maintenance to the project site.
Council action is being requested to accept the grant.
