SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT:
SECTION 24-255 — 25 MPH SPEED LIMIT REVISIONS - ALII DRIVE
AND MAMALAHOA BYPASS HIGHWAY
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10 (Schedules), Division 1
(Speed Limits), Section 24-255, Schedule 3 (25 mile per hour limit), subsection (f), Kona
be amended by revising existing item as follows:
(1) AII`i Drive, from a point 0.20 mile south of Kaleiopapa Street MAMALAHOA
BYPASS HIGHWAY to its southern terminus
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 1, Section 24-
255, Schedule 3. 25 mile per hour limit, subsection (f). Kona be amended by deleting
existing items and renumbering as required:
(8) Mamalahoa Bypass Highway, from-a point 2.67 miles south-of-the Ali'i r
intersection to Haleki`i Street.

The intent of this amendment is to revise the speed limits along Ali`i Drive and
Mamalahoa Bypass Highway, in accordance with the Mamalahoa Highway Bypass
Road Project and to be more appropriate to the current conditions of the roadway.
A location map is attached for your reference.
