Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 149, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 149, from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated February 15, 2013, transmits the
nomination of Mr. Chauncey T. Wong Yuen to the Kona Community Development Plan Action
Committee.
Mr. Wong Yuen is a lifelong resident of Hawai`i and is a graduate of Konawaena High School.
Mr. Wong Yuen is a former Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines executive, who is currently
employed by the State of Hawai`i, Department of Transportation, Airport Division as the
Hawai`i airport's district manager. Mr. Wong Yuen was named State Manager of the year by
Governor Linda Lingle.
Council members expressed deep appreciation for Mr. Wong Yuen's nomination and willingness
to serve in this capacity. They remarked on past experiences working with him and his extensive
knowledge of the island of Hawai`i in general and the Kona community specifically.
Mr. Wong Yuen was informed that he does not need to appear before the full Council for final
confirmation.

Your Committee on Planning is in accordance with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 149, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Chauncey T. Wong Yuen to
the Kona Community Development Plan Action Committee.
