Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 149, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 149, from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated February 15, 2013, transmits the
nomination of Ms. Elaine Fukushima to the Kona Community Development Plan Action
Committee.
Ms. Fukushima is a 30-year resident of Kailua-Kona. She has worked for the past 2 `/z years as
an estate manager for Vulcan Personal Services and prior to that as a personal assistant for the
Troxel Family Office. Ms. Fukushima has served as the West Hawai`i representative on the
Community Based Economic Development Council, and in 1996 ran as the Democratic nominee
for the State House.
Ms. Fukushima stated that she was looking forward to working on the committee and was
excited and passionate about the plan and the future of the Kona community.
Ms. Fukushima was informed that she does not need to appear before the full Council for final
confirmation.
Your Committee on Planning is in accordance with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 149, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Ms. Elaine Fukushima to the
Kona Community Development Plan Action Committee.
