Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 814,
and attached Resolution No. 271-00 reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 271-00 is to authorize the County, pursuant to Section 101-13
of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, to acquire private property, being a portion of Tax Map Key
(3) 2-2-027-44 , situate at Waiakea, District of South Hilo, County and State of Hawaii. The
acquisition will provide additional rights-of--way that are required for improvements at the
intersection of Lanikaula and Manono Streets.
The County finds that it is necessary for the public use and purpose to improve the
intersection of Lanikaula and Manono Streets by installing traffic signals, widening the road
and constructing sidewalks.
Communication No. 814 is from Patricia K. O'Toole for Deputy Corporation Counsel Gerald
Takase, dated June 13, 2000, transmitting Resolution No. 271-OQ, for the Council's review
and consideration.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 271-00, and
recommends that it pass the first of two readings.
