MEMORANDUM
April 6, 2010
Cr.)
To: J Yoshimoto, Chair
And Committee Members of the Hawai`i County Council
From: Brenda J. Ford
Council Member, District 7 .
Subject: Hawai`i Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP)
I would like to request a 45 minute presentation to he scheduled for April 19, 2010 in the Food
and Energy Sustainability Committee.
I invited Lester Ueda from the USDA Farm Service Agency to give a presentation in regard to
the Hawai`i Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP). CREP is a federal-state
natural resources conservation program that addresses state and nationally significant
agriculturally-related environmental concerns. This program helps control erosion, restore
ground water recharge, control invasive weeds/plants, and restore native trees, shrubs, and
wildlife habitat. It offers cost share and payment incentives which can help defray costs up to
90%.
Please place this presentation by Lester Ueda, on the Food and Energy Sustainability Committee
for April 19, 2010.
