Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit, to which was referred Communication
No. 201, reports as follows:
Communication No. 201, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated February 26, 2013,
nominates Mr. Keith T. Morioka of Council District 3 to the County of Hawai`i Police
Commission.
Mr. Morioka, a lifelong resident of Hawai`i, is presently retired. He was previously employed
by the State of Hawai`i Department of Education as a District Education Specialist — Athletics.
Mr. Morioka is a board member of the Positive Coaching Alliance — Big Island, the OIA Athletic
Foundation, the Hawai`i Island Athletic Directors Association, and the Nobu Yamauchi RBI

a term to end on December 31, 2017.
Committee Chair Ford specified that Mr. Morioka does not need to appear before the full
Council for confirmation.
Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Communication No. 201, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Keith T.
