SUBJECT: Presentation by the Kealakehe High School Applied Global Citizenship
Organization (Civic Engagement& Policy Forum)
This communication is a request for a 30 minute presentation by Kealakehe High School's
Applied Global Citizenship Organization's (Civic Engagement & Policy Forum).
I am requesting this be placed on the appropriate Committee Meeting agenda for April 16th so
that the students can inform Council about their Civic Engagement and Policy Forum scheduled
to take place here at the West Hawai`i Civic Center on April 19, 20, and 21st, 2013. The students
wish to make this presentation prior to their scheduled forum.

Aloha,
On behalf of Kealakehe High School's Applied Global Citizenship organization (AGC), we
present to the Hawaii County Council the Civic Engagement& Policy Forum. With a focus on leadership
in a local and global scale, this project aims to develop important skill sets in many Hawaii students and
willing participants. Our presentation focuses on the following topics involved in the forum;
1. Importance of international relations
2. Importance of civic values
3. Expanding education
4. Student involvement in extracurricular activities
5. Promoting better future leaders
6. Important skills needed for success
7. Spreading awareness within the community
8. Giving back to the community
The Civic Engagement& Policy Forum is organized by students for students. An effective method
towards promoting key values through peer leadership, it provides a hands-on experience for participants
to learn through interaction.
The Civic Engagement& Policy Forum is a three-day event for Hawaii students in grades 5`1'—12`"to
actively participate in organized simulations that range from local to international levels. It is scheduled
April 19-21, 2013 at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Kailua Kona, HI.
