Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Robert G. Gomes, Sr., of Council District 6 to the County of
Hawai'i Police Commission. Mr. Gomes is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. From 1962 to 1988, he
was employed by the Hawai'i County Police Department, where he retired as a Sergeant after
26 years of service.
Mr. Gomes is a Volunteer Reserve Officer with the Hawai'i Police Department. He is an active
member of the Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a volunteer announcer at KAHU Radio
Station. Mr. Gomes states that he is a Democrat. If confirmed, he will serve a term that ends
on December 31, 2017, replacing Jessanie Marques whose term ended on December 31, 2012.
