Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication
No. 826, reports as follows:
Communication No. 826 is transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated
June 22, 2000, nominating Roy T. Hinokawa of Hilo to the Hawaii County Veterans
Advisory Commission. Mr. Hinokawa is being recommended to represent the local chapter
of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to replace Derrick S. Ah Sing who resigned on
May 22, 2000.
Mr. Hinokawa has been retired since 1988. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the
Hawaii National Guard from 1955 to 1988. He is a member of the Disabled American
Veterans and the American Legion. If confirmed, he will serve the balance of the
unexpired term, ending December 31, 2002, and will be representing the Disabled
American Veterans.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks recommends the approval of the
nomination of Roy T. Hinokawa to the Hawaii County Veterans Advisory Commission.
