We further believe that because of the community benefit from properly managed natural resources on the hundreds of farms on this island Hawaii soil and water conservation districts should be funded with public money. We petition the Hawaii. County Council to not only prevent decreasing funding to our local soil and water conservation districts but to increase it so that soil and water conservation district staff members can get out on even more farms and educate more agricultural producers on the best methods to preventing some of our greatest challenges. We the undersigned feel that a strong, healthy and vibrant soil and water conservation district is a sign of a strong, healthy and vibrant agricultural community, It is the hope of the undersigned that our local elected officials' "support for local ag" is more than just lip service.
