Subject: Capital Budget FY 2013-2014
I'm sorry if this testimony is a bit late, I've been at a meeting between volunteers and the
r.)mporf/nenfuĆ’ Planning all day,
As a full-time resident of North Kohalo I'd like to take this opportunity to support the
District 9 Mahukona Beach P er kA enovo t mnp r oJ e t (FY# 20l3O25)
2013025).
The present pavilion and restroom/shower facilities at Mahukona Beach Pork are over 50
years old arid in a very decrepit state, verging on dangerous. I have visited several County
parks and have yet to see a facility in such poor shape. Mahukona Beach Park is heavily
used by both visitors (campers and picnickers) and by residents who swim and picnic there.
Some groups also have well-attended weekly potluck dinners there. Last year the North
Kohala Community Development Plan Action Committee made the renovation of this facility
their highest priority for a CIP in their district, In fact it was the only CZPfn be proposed
by the AC for 2013 Substantial volunteer work by local residents spanning several years is
toe only reason that the pavilion is still usable, I'd like to see some of that County savings
returned to the park users in the form of this renovation. PLEASE make this project a
fully funded high priority for the County budget. Thank you very much,
