Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred
Communication No. 252, reports as follows:
Communication No. 252, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated April 4, 2013,
nominates John S. Okino to the Hawai`i County Veterans Advisory Committee.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Charmaine Shigemura read in, for the record, Mr. Okino's
credentials. He is a lifelong resident of Hawai`i and a member of the 442nd Veterans Association.
If confirmed, Mr. Okino will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2016, replacing the late
Mr. George Mukai, whose term expired in December 31, 2011.
Mr. Okino was not present at this meeting.
Committee member Kern requested that Mr. Okino make a personal appearance when his
nomination comes before the council.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Communication 252, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. John S.
Okino to the Hawai`i County Veterans Advisory Committee.
