Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
SUBJECT: Cost Items, United Public Workers
Bargaining Unit 01 and Employees Excluded from Bargaining Unit 01
In accordance with Section 89-10(b), Hawai`i Revised Statutes, attached for Council action is a
resolution authorizing the appropriation in future years of funds to cover the cost items agreed to
between the employers and the United Public Workers (UPW) for bargaining unit 01 and
employees excluded from this bargaining unit. The agreement covers the period from July 1,
2013 through June 30, 2017. Cost items presented for your consideration are across-the-board
increases, and changing stand-by work compensation from $2.00 per hour to 25% of daily rate.
Attached as exhibits to the resolution are schedules showing the total cost of these adjustments
over the term of the contract.
