RESOLUTION NO. 389
WHEREAS, the concentration of governmental functions on the
island of Oahu may be a serious detriment to the operation of
State government in the event of civil or military disaster; and
WHEREAS, suitable land, personnel and services are available
on the outside islands for development of State facilities; and
WHEREAS, the rate of economic development on the neighbor
islands has not kept pace with the spectacular growth of the
City and County of Honolulu; and
WHEREAS, the locating of suitable State facilities and
institutions on the neighboring outside counties will enhance
considerably their economic growth;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
in and for the County of Hawaii that the Legislature of the
State of Hawaii be and is hereby respectfully requested to
consider favorably a definite plan to locate suitable State
functions and institutions on the neighbor islands with a time-
table for such relocation or development.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and is
hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to the
Honorable William H. Hill, President of the Senate, the
Honorable Elmer F. Cravalho, Speaker of the House, and to all
the Members of the Legislature from the County of Hawaii .
