RESOLUTION NO. 394
WHEREAS, existing statutes do not allow the payment
of mileage fees for Civil Service Commissioners attending
commission meetings; and
WHEREAS, the frequency and great distances that a
Commissioner may have to travel to attend meetings, may
create undue hardships in many instances as well as to deter
qualified citizens from accepting appointments to serve as
Commissioners.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS in and for the County of Hawaii that the
Legislature of the State of Hawaii, be and is hereby
respectfully requested to enact legislation providing for
payment of mileage fees to Civil Service Commissioners
for attendance of meetings.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and
is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to
the Honorable William H. Hill, President of the Senate,
the Honorable Elmer F. Cravalho, Speaker of the House of
Representatives, and to all the members of the Legislature
from the County of Hawaii.
