ORDINANCE NO. 11 55
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, DIVISION 1, SECTION 24-255
OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO
SPEED LIMITS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this amendment is to revise the speed limits along Ali`i
Drive to be more appropriate to the current conditions of the roadway.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 1, Section 24-255, Schedule 3. 25 mile
per hour limit, subsection (I), Kona, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended),
is amended by revising existing item as follows:
(1) Ali`i Drive, from [a point 0.20 mile south of Kaleiopapa Street] Mamalahoa
Bypass Highway to its southern terminus.
SECTION 3. The purpose of this amendment is to revise the speed limits along
Mamalahoa Bypass Highway in accordance with the Mamalahoa Highway Bypass Road project
and to be more appropriate to the current conditions of the roadway.
SECTION 4. Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 1, Section 24-255, Schedule 3. 25 mile per
hour limit, subsection (f), Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), is
amended by deleting existing items:
[(8) Mamalahoa Bypass Highway, from a point 2.67 miles south of the Ali`i Drive
intersection to the Haleki`i Street intersection.
(9) Mamalahoa Bypass Highway, from the Ali`i Drive intersection to a point
four hundred sixty feet in the southerly direction.]
SECTION 5. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is underscored.
In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed and stricken material and underscoring need not be
included.
SECTION 6. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof
to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application,
and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 7. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
