Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 544.02, and
attached Bill No. 301, reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 301 is to amend Chapter 15, Parks and Recreation, Pazks and
Recreational Facility Schedule, Parks. The bill proposes to change the name of Isaac Hale
Memorial Beach Park by removing the word "Beach" to acknowledge original intent of naming
the park as stated in Resolution 339, dated September 5, 1951. It also adds the following rural
County cemeteries: Kihalani (Laupahoehoe), Kainehe (Kuka`iau), Pa`alaea (Honoka`a),
Kukuihaele, Hienaloli (Keopu), Kahei, and Waimea to the schedule.
Communication No. 544.02 is from Department of Pazks and Recreation Director Juliette M. Tulang,
dated August 7, 2000, transmitting Bill No. 301 for the Council's review and consideration.
Communication No. 544.003 is from Council Member Dominic Yagong, dated
August 21, 2000, transmitting Bill No. 301, Draft 2. Draft 2 is proposed to improve the bill's
format.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 301, as amended to Draft 2, and
recommends that it pass first reading.
