Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 877,
reports as follows:
Communication No. 877 is transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated July 31, 2000,
nominating Louis Kaoiwi of Hilo (Council District 4) to the Hawaii County Veterans Advisory
Committee. If approved, Mr. Kaoiwi will serve as an unattached member for a teen to ending on
December 31;-995-~2 DO
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro also nominated Shigeru Ushijima of Hilo (Council District 2) to
replace George Y. Taketa (Council District 4), who resigned effective May 29, 2000. If approved,
Mr. Ushijima will represent Club 100, and will serve the balance of the unexpired term, which will
end on December 31, 2000. (Mr. Ushijima may be reappointed for a second term.)
Council Members J. Curtis Tyler, III and Ms. Nancy Piscchio voted kanalua twice.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks recommends the approval of the nominations of
both Mr. Louis Kaoiwi and Mr. Shigeru Ushijima to the Hawaii County Veterans Advisory
Committee.
