Re: Request to hire special counsel to assist the Office of Housing and
Community Development in real estate matters related to the
Kamakoa Nui project
Pursuant to Section 6-5.5 of the Hawaii County Charter (2012), the Office of the
Corporation Counsel respectfully requests the Council place the above matter on its
agenda for the purpose of authorizing the hiring of special counsel to assist the Office of
Housing and Community Development in real estate matters related to the Kamakoa
Nui project. We respectfully ask this matter be placed on the June 19, 2013, Council
meeting agenda.
Although we are not requesting this matter be discussed in executive session,
one or more Council members may have questions that pertain to the Council's powers,
duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities. For this reason, we ask this item be
agendized in both the regular session and executive session portions of the Council's
agenda.
