REGARDING: Communication No 283/Bill No. 83

TITLE: An ordinance amending Chapter 24, Article 11, Division 1,
Section 24-300 of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition,
as amended), relating to speed limits.
EXPLANATION:
Your committee on Public Works and Recreation, to which was referred Bill No. 83, reports as
follows:
Bill No. 83, transmitted by Public Works Director Warren H. W. Lee, via Communication
No. 283, dated May 10, 2013, amends Chapter 24, Article 11 (Schedules—Private Streets),
Division 1 (Speed Limits), Section 24-300, Schedule 4 (25 mile per hour limit), subsection(g),
Puna, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended)by adding Hawaiian
Paradise Park Subdivision, all paved roads except for Shower Drive, Kaloli Drive, Paradise
Drive, and Makuu Drive.
The purpose of the amendment is to establish speed limits in the Hawai`i County Code for the
Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision so that speed limits can be properly enforced by the police.
Your committee received testimony in support of this measure from Ms. June Conant, president
of the Hawaiian Paradise Park Homeowners Association.
There was no discussion on this measure.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Public Works and
