Subject: PLEASE VOTE NO ON PROPERTY TAX INCREASE
Dear Council Members,
Please vote no on property tax increases .
If you look carefully at the employment figures ( smaller labor force more giving up
looking) , the DISPOSABLE INCOME - now only $18 a week on average, higher consumer credit
(used to finance daily necessities ) , the velocity of money ( very low concentrated in the
upper 1% not circulating in the economy) coupled with an already high living cost in
Hawaiiwe can not afford a tax increase. MANY PEOPLE CAN NOT AFFORD GROCERIES
OR BARELY MAKE IT NOW taxing them will hurt them more.
In addition we have seen very little evidence that the county has really made all the cuts
( not in people) in programs and expenses that they can.
These tax raises will take money out of the general economy and trades and hurt the
average worker, family, business person.
PLEASE CONSIDER THE PEOPLE NOT THE SYSTEM AND VOTE FOR US. If you really can't do the
Eight thing now at least vote for a one year raise needing to be renewed again yearly.
That will allow you to vote no next year and take away some of the undoubted grief /
possible loss of office in the highly competitive district races that will inevitably come
from voters - many of whom do not follow the council but will be quite miffed when they
see their higher tax bill.
Thanks for your consideration,
Ross Armetta
