RE: Notification of certificate presentation on July 10, 2013, at the scheduled
Council Meeting.
This is to notify you that I am sponsoring twenty-eight(28) certificates of achievement.
We will be presenting these certificates (as a group) at the July 10, 2013 scheduled Hawai`i
County Council meeting. The Certificates of Achievement will be presented to the Hilo
High School- Hilo Vikings Robotics Team for their outstanding performance this past
season. We will need 20 minutes for our presentation.

Congratulations on your outstanding contributions as a member of Hilo High School's Hilo Vikings
Robotics Team. You are to be commended for your exceptional achievements during the 2012-2013
Season. You brought recognition and honor to school, community and family by demonstrating the values
of preparation,perseverance and commitment to personal and team excellence.
The Hilo Viking Robotics Team won an impressive array of awards at various VEX and FIRST
competitions. These included Tournament Champions and the Educate Award at the Big Island VEX
Regional Competition;the Robot Skills Winner, Programming Skills Winner, Tournament Finalist, and
Excellence Award at the Big Island VEX League Competition;and the Excellence Award at the Maui
Fair VEX Regional Competition. Also, at the 2013 Pan Pacific VEX Robotics Championships, (which
brought together teams from around the world), the Hilo Vikings Robotics Team was victorious in
becoming Tournament Champions and also won the Create Award. As Tournament Champions, this
qualified you and your team to compete at the 2013-VEX World Championships in Anaheim, California.
In addition, at the 2013 FIRST—in Hawai`i Regional Robotics Competition, Hilo Vikings Robotics won
the prestigious Engineering Inspiration Award as well as the Innovation in Control Award. The
Engineering Inspiration Award included$5000 from NASA for registration fees and$1000 for travel to
the FIRST Robotics World Championships in St. Louis, Missouri.
You have proven that you are a committed and determined champion in competition and as well as in life.
You are a shining example of excellence and serve as a role model for other students.
Please accept our best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
