SUBJECT: Certificate Presentation to Two Eagle Scouts (Tyler Kojima and Dane Sako)
at the July 10, 2013 Council Meeting in Hilo
This is to inform you that I plan to present two certificates at the next council
meeting scheduled in Hilo on July 10, 2013. I am sponsoring a certificate for
Dane Sako and co-sponsoring a certificate for Tyler Kojima. Both Sako and
Kojima will be recognized for their achievement in earning the Boy Scouts of
America's highest rank of Eagle Scout. I anticipate that it will take approximately
25 minutes for both presentations.

You have been successful throughout your scouting career in attaining all necessary badges and the
goals you have set for yourself. You are an outstanding Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 19 and you are
well respected among your fellow Scouts. For your Eagle Scout Service Project,you directed the
procurement and installation of first aid kits in 62 residences of the Kamana Elderly Apartments,
a senior independent living community in Hilo.
In addition to being a dedicated Scout,you are an excellent student at Waiakea High School,
a member of the Student Council and you have chaired many class events.
Your diligence,determination and thoroughness have allowed you to accomplish your many goals.
It is for all these extraordinary qualities that we honor you,
Tyler H. Kojima,son of Dave and Sheri Kojima, on this great achievement.

You have been successful throughout your scouting career in attaining all necessary merit badges and
the goals you have set for yourself. For your Eagle Scout Service Project,you constructed a chain link
fence fronting United Community Church's parsonage. This provided a safe activity and play area for
children of the church's Marshallese Ministry. While serving as Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 19,you
initiated the transition from an adult-led troop to the Boy Scouts of America ideal of a Scout-led troop.
One of your proudest accomplishments was leading a group of scouts from Hilo and O`ahu on a 60-mile
hike via map and compass at the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in New Mexico in July of 2012.
In addition to being a dedicated Scout,you have also successfully excelled in scholastic and extra-
curricular activities. You graduated Summa Cum Laude from Waiakea High School,where you were
a member of the National Honor Society,Key Club, Swim Team, and other extracurricular activities.
Currently,you are enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Manoa- Shidler College of Business.
Your diligence, determination and thoroughness have allowed you to accomplish your many goals.
It is for all these extraordinary qualities that we honor you,Dane Sako,
son of Glenn and Wendy Sako, on this great achievement.
On behalf of the Big Island community, the Hawaii County Council extends to you its
