RESOLUTION NUMBER 122-13
Aloha Members of the Hawaii County Council,
The Kailua Village Business Improvement District is very concerned about growing
chronic homelessness and the related social and economic impacts surrounding
these issues.
Historic Kailua Village is the economic engine for West Hawaii welcoming residents
and visitors to invest, work, live and play here. Complaints are frequently received
about growing homelessness that affect the reputation of this historic and cultural
icon. Chronic homelessness is a very real problem.
Solving chronic homelessness is no easy task and we urge all policymakers to work
together with the community and social service providers to overcome these
challenges with a strategic plan that calls for measurable results.
We are encouraged by Managing Director Wally Lau's initiative to convene
stakeholders to discuss potential strategies.
Kailua Village Business Improvement District supports Hawaii County Resolution
Number 122-13.
