ACCEPTING THE KOHANAIKI COASTAL PARK

It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to be a part of today's
landmark meeting at which the County Council is to accept the Kohanaiki Coastal
Park.
As a member of the State House of Representatives, I was very involved
with this important piece of Legislation.
I am presenting to you, a booklet of documents regarding the history of
today's meeting. It starts with the May 1, 1987 Land Use Commission's Order on
the docket when this was referred to as the Kona Beach Development Venture.
There are numerous people who should be recognized as the ones who kept
on top of this development and that includes your own former Councilman Angel
Pilago and your present Councilperson Karen Eoff plus Jerry Rothstein who is no
longer with us.....
I fully support the County Council acceptance of the Kohanaiki Coastal
Park.
