STRONGLY OPPOSE BILL 79 51tlli
We, members of the Hawaii Papaya Industry Association, oppose Bill 79
which we feel will economically damage the future of agriculture here
on the Island of Hawaii.
This Bill is flawed:
1) This Bill has no supporting document for any claim written in this
Bill;
2) This Bill has no supporting document pertaining to cross-
contamination;
3) This Bill is without proof of cross-contamination. It does not show
supporting documents referring to cross-contamination by wind,
insects, birds, animals, water, trucks or farm machinery; and
4) We are not obligated to the "Precautionary Principle", which this
Bill is predicated on and is the core of the United Nations
Biosafety Protocol that the United States did not sign.
This Bill 79 needs to be killed. It does not allow a common person to
support these claims as there is no supporting evidence or
documents n It is merely assumptions and innuendos.
