Hawaii County Council Members
I quote Michael Eliner, " Just look at us. Everything is backwards, everything is upside
down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, psychiatrists destroy minds,
scientists destroy truth, major media destroys information, religions destroy spirituality
and governments destroy freedom."
I believe all of you Council Members carry a heavy burden. This bill, 79, to amend
Chapter 14 of the Hawaii County Code 1983, (2005 Edition, as Amended), by adding a
new article relating to prohibition of genetically modified organisms written by
Councilperson Margaret Willie, is profound. I believe she is a conscious and aware
elected official.
We ask the County Council to protect the population on this Island and the State of
Hawaii from the insidiousness of Genetically Modified Foods.
Research shows that The Federal Drug Administration approves genetically modified
crops with the United States Department of Agriculture carrying out Federal
Regulations to approve planting. Former GMO Industry managers now occupy many of
the top management positions in the Federal Government.
The GMO seeds grown on our Islands have pesticides and other unknown organisms,
combined. The pesticides kill the bees, contaminate other crops, require two times the
water to grow vs. unmodified seed, and the effects of modified grains, causing cattle to
abort their fetuses. Austria, Hungary, India, and Peru,just to name a few of the sixty
countries that have banned Monsanto and GMO crops.
And I quote Hawaii State Senator, Russell Ruderman, "Monsanto money is why GMO's
have run rampant in Hawaii, poisoning our land, water, and legislature."
Utilizing scientific data, legal precedent, and consumer power,A World Wide March
Against Monsanto will be held May 25, 2013. You can march with us, we the people of
the Island of Hawaii in Hilo, Kailua-Kona, and Kamuela.
