COUNTY OF HAWAII From: Lorn Douglas [lornd @yahoo.com] Sent: Sunday, May 12, 2013 6:40 AM 2013 HAY 13 AN 8 1'9 To: counciltestimony @co.hawaii.hi.us Subject: Opposition to Bill 78 Aloha, As a scientist I have no problem with geothermal implemented safely. Hawaii needs safe reliable sustainable power generation.* However 'safely' is not exactly what has been implemented when an industry like this is situated in a residential area. Visioning that this could/would be a problem is why the relocation fund was established and was funded by industry. How many incidents have occurred and continue to happen on a regular basis. I remember the worst one when an improperly dug well vented for months. If the plant was accident free for years I would understand changing this fund but this is not the case. Please vote to oppose this bill. Your consideration on this issue is greatly appreciated.. Lorn Douglas * Setting an example of safe sustainable alternative power generation I run my two homes and my two electric cars on my net-metered solar system. My surplus power goes into the grid and our family is carbon negative. Here in Hawaii its easy to do. (o)(o) 000--(_)--OOo Suppose there were no hypothetical situations.... Comm. No.17 1 • 7 S Ref.
