Many of our Hawaii Island residents are highly skeptical of the mega-corporations who are profiting from the selling of genetically modified foods, and usually without the public knowing that they are in fact consuming genetically modified foods. Let us not here, on our Big Island. be a party to the dangers of drift and contamination and the fostering and furthering of a domestic and international food supply that is laboratory-engineered instead of natural and real. Let us be far-thinking here in our county. and not be eager to jump on the transnational corporation bandwagon just because it would mean some added dollars would trickle through our economy. In our county we value QUALITY of life, and AUTI IENTICITY of food production and human relations. Keep the GMO transnationals out. let them do their experimentation elsewhere, but do not allow this to be foisted upon our local population. We should be supporting our own local farmers and food growers. and organic and non-pesticide grown food supplies, and building a sustainable agricultural model for the state and nation to observe and learn from, not falling in line behind the laboratory-concocted items that are being passed off as food today. Let's go HEALTHY, let's go local, let's go natural, let's not sell out for money. Ronald D. Gordon, Ph.D. Comm. h! i •$2 Ref. To: f 7G. Ref. Date MAY 14 2013 s. 5/13/2013
