Thank you for allowing me to testify on this important issue.
First, I want to thank Councilwoman Margaret Mille for having the courage and brains to
but forth a bill like this .
Pileace pass Bill 79. it will protect the farmers, citizens and consumers of Hawaii County.
We h...:o been talking for many years about keeping Hawaii island as the only non-gmo island
in she Hawaiian chain. Councilwoman Mille, has clearly been very careful and thoughtful
with roe included exemptions . Papaya etc.
We do not want to become a haven for the seed companies, as Kauai,Maui, Oahu, Molokai have
become.
There is currently a demand for non-gmo products, that can grow, if we have the correct
safeguards in place.
