To The Public Safety Committee, Hawaii County Council:
My name is Pono von Holt and I am a rancher operating
Ponoholo Ranch in Kohala for the last 33 years. Bill 79 which
will prohibit the use of GMO technology will be very
detrimental to the Hawaii Agriculture industry. The success of
GMO technology is well documented and the Hawaii Papaya
industry and the Dairy Industry are two of our agriculture
industries that are economically viable because of GMO.
The facts do not support the perception that GMO is a
danger to producing agriculture goods. Please do not pass Bill
79.
