Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting the donation of a 1998 M903, five-ton cargo truck, with a total
estimated value of$2,450 from Mr. Rick Crosby and several others, P.O. Box 7009, Ocean View,
Hawai`i 96737-7009. This vehicle will be used to support the Hawai`i Fire Department and the
Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company personnel to assist with the response to, and extinguishment
of, fire emergencies.

A. REQUEST:
The Hawai'i Fire Department humbly requests that a resolution be drafted to authorize the acceptance of the
donation of a 1998 M903, 5 ton Cargo Truck from Mr. Rick Crosby and several others from the Ocean View
Community. Mr. Crosby is a member of the Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company 20 A. His desire is to
donate the truck to the Hawai'i Fire Department to primarily service the Ocean View Community and the
Ocean View Volunteer Fire Company.The Fire Department is also requesting that a letter of appreciation and
a copy of this resolution, after it is accepted and signed, be sent to Mr. Crosby , PO Box 7009, Oean View,
HI 96737-7009, to recognize his generous donation.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
This vehicle was purchased at military surplus auction and, along with the cost to ship to Hawai'i, is valued at
$2,450. This equipment will support the Hawai'i Fire Department and the Ocean View Volunteer Fire
Company personnel to assist with the response to, and extinguishment of, fire emergencies. As we are
aware, the Ocean View community is remote to additional response resources and has limited infrastructure
in the way of water resources for firefighting. This vehicle will be a welcomed additional resource and the
Hawai'i Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation. The Hawai'i County Charter provides
that the County Council may approve such donations.

RE: Resolution No. 139-13 : A Resolution Authorizing the Acceptance of a Cargo
Truck.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
