Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members:
SUBJECT: Cost Items, State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers
Bargaining Unit 12 and Employees Excluded from Bargaining Unit 12
In accordance with Section 89-11(e) and (g) of the Hawaii Revised Statutes relating to collective
bargaining, attached for Council action is a resolution authorizing the appropriation in future
years of funds to cover the cost items agreed to between the employers and the State of Hawaii
Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO) for bargaining unit 12 and employees excluded from
this bargaining unit. The agreement covers the period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2017.
Cost items presented for your consideration are across-the-board increases, step movements, an
increase of the firearm maintenance allowance, and increases in Standard of Conduct Differential
pay (SOCD).
Attached as exhibits to the resolution are schedules showing the total cost of these adjustments
over the term of the contract.
