Subject: Yes to Bill # 79
Dear Council Members,
As a resident of Hawaii for 33 years and an organic gardener I urge you to support the bill#79 that would ban GMOs
from being further developed and grown on our Big Island. Of all the Islands, we have a large area to grow food for the
residents of Hawaii Nei and slowly wean our needs for food from out of state. This is a better direction to pursue and
will be safer for future generations to come. There are too many unanswered questions about the dangers of GMOs.
The research that does exist would be a BIG warning to stop. I think we owe it to the generations that follow ours to
care for the land and people. I believe that using these untested and dangerous products are selfish and short sighted.
There needs to be a greater cause that a quick buck.
