RESOLUTION NO. 147 13
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A FIRE ENGINE
WHEREAS, the Avalon Fire Department of Avalon California is donating one
(1) 1999 Ford Type 5 fire engine, with an estimated value of$3,000 to the Hawaii
Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this vehicle will be used to support the Hawaii Fire Department's
Laupahoehoe Volunteer Fire Company 17A personnel to assist with the response to,
and extinguishment of, fire emergencies; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai`i County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Assistant Fire Chief Michael Krug, Avalon Fire Department and
the City of Avalon City Council, P.O. Box 707, Avalon, CA 90704, acknowledging this
generous donation.
