Re: Capital Budget
The Department of Public Works is requesting to add an appropriation of funds to Ordinance 13-66,
the Capital Budget, for the Kilauea Avenue Resurfacing project, Phase 3. This project spans from
the Aupuni Street intersection to the Puna side of the Waiakea Stream/Wailoa Bridge and includes
the milling of the old pavement and A.C. pavement resurfacing, new striping, and a traffic signal
upgrade to the Aupuni Street intersection.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance to add the project titled "Kilauea Avenue Resurfacing", and
appropriating $1,972,000 to the Capital Budget.

A. REQUEST:
An ordinance amending Ordinance 13-66, the Capital Budget, by adding the appropriation for the design
and engineering for contract plan preparation, to continue the Kilauea Avenue Resurfacing project, for a
total amount of $1,972,000.00.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
This project is for the pavement resurfacing of Kilauea Avenue Resurfacing, Phase 3, from the
Aupuni Street intersection to the Puna side of the Waiakea Stream/Wailoa Bridge. Work
includes the cold-plane or milling of the old pavement and A.C. pavement resurfacing, new
striping, and traffic signal upgrade to the Aupuni Street intersection.
