Re: Resolution to negotiate multi-year lease
HE OLA HOU 0 KE KUMU NIU, a not-for-profit organization, desires to enter into a multi-
year lease agreement for the County owned real property parcel identified by Tax Map Key
(TMK) (3) 2-1-014:036, which is adjacent to Onekahakaha Beach Park. They wish to use this
property for the development and maintenance of a Hawaiian Cultural Center. This center will
be used for public education and to display crafts of drum and canoe carving.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Director of Finance to negotiate the lease of this real
property. This resolution also authorizes the Mayor of the County of Hawai`i to execute said
lease agreement on behalf of the County of Hawai`i following approval by the Council.

A. REQUEST:
Approval to negotiate a multi-year lease of real property identified as Tax Map Key: (3) 2-1-014:036,
adjacent to Onekahakaha Beach Park, to He Ola Hou 0 Ke Kumu Niu.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
HE OLA HOU 0 KE KUMU NIU, a not-for-profit organization, desires to lease the Parcel from the County, for
development and maintenance of a Hawaiian Cultural Center for public education and display that will
include crafts of drum and canoe carving. The facility will be used to teach healthy life skills and ways of
interaction through Hawaiian cultural practices, and to instill mental, physical, and spiritual well-being within
the Hawaiian community, family, and individuals
