Subject: Support of Bill 79
Hello Council Members,
Thank you for your time.
I am writing to support the passage of Bill 79. We need to pass this bill in order to protect the
rights of local farmers and citizens to be able to grow non-genetically modified organisms (gmo)
crops on Hawaii Island. We cannot take the risk of contaminating our local organic food and
seed sources with the unknown gmo crops being planted and carried by wind, insects into
unknown areas. We need to secure our local food sustainability and introducing new and
untested gmo crops is a threat to our food safety and ability to protect our local seed hertitage.
Please consider the long-term effects of this legislation and consider the health of the land and
the people who live here.
