HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0271.422 2012-2014 Murashige, Laura From: chris kobayashi [waioli2 @hawaiiantel.net] Sent: Monday, May 13, 2013 12:34 PM To: counciltestimony@co.hawaii.hi.us Cc: councilmembers @kauai.gov Subject: in strong support of bill 79, may 14, 2013 aloha Hawaii island council members. although i live on Kauai, i would like to express my strong support for bill 79 banning :CMOs on Hawaii island. on Kauai, aka The Garden Island, i believe we have the most experimental GMO crops in the world. on the westside, we have numerous unpublicized cases of various cancers, respiratory Issues and fertility and miscarriages. when you personally hear these people' s stories, it really tears me apart to think that cur county, our state agencies like DOA, DOH continue to cover up for these GMO companies and allow them to continue to poison our land, our water, our air, our resources, our people, our future. when they are done, they will leave, like the plantations before. ie. recent pesticide :lean up in kilauea from long ago plantation days, where they transferred this poisonous soil to another community - Kekaha. it should be in no one' s back or front yard. and who will have to face the consequences of serious health issues, contaminated soils and waters, remediation_ before any edible crops are allowed to be planted? . how in the world do these GMOs contribute to a 2050 sustainable state? our county is at the forefront of protecting your people and resources by banning gmc coffee and gmo taro. please continue to stand up in leading the state in banning GMOs . mchalo nui . chris kobayashi oanalei, kauai taro & veg farmer 0,c, ZC C —t -- Z ""( • r < c r P Po Comm.
