Council Members,
J Yoshimoto, Karen Eoff, Greggor Ilagan, Dru Kanuha, Zendo Kern, Dennis "Fresh" Onishi,Valerie Poindexter,
BILL 79 GMO PROHIBITION would restrict GMO crops,trees,seafood,algae and toxic and invasive CMOs on the Big
Island.
We are requesting your support on the GMO ban because once these plants are allowed to be here, it is not
possible to keep them isolated from the rest of the food chain.
We respectfully ask you to please support the bill that's being voted on July 2 that will ban GMOs.
We would like to submit our support for the following opinions.
1. Please consider the economic benefits this bill would create.
Non-GMO island would attract seed production/hybrid research -free from GMO contamination; protective sanctuary for
many non-GMO crops attract international growers; non-GMO alfalfa and soybeans grows well in Hawaii free from GMO
contamination; provide for tourists seeking non-GMO products, etc.

2. Please use the precautionary principle where there is uncertainty or potential harm to humans/environment
and because once these plants are allowed to be here, it is not possible to keep them isolated from the rest of the
food chain.

3. The growing demand for non-gmo food is affecting the price and supply of commodities.
