Subject: Yes on #79
Aloha City Council,
Please support Bill #79. The harmful chemicals associated with GMO crops pollute our water ways and oceans.
Their pollen gets mixed in with heirloom and crops and the integrity of non-GMO crops in Hawaii are
compromised. Now lets talk about the companies that own and produce GMO crops. This is predominately an
export business. The money that gets made from these crops does not stay in Hawaii but is held in mainland and
foreign pockets. The handful of jobs these companies provide is not worth the environmental damage.
Additionally, once they find a cheaper place to grow these crops they will leave Hawaii so their stay is not long
term thus banning GMOs now will prevent additional environmental damage that they will leave behind for us
to live with. Yes on 79.
