Subject: For Bill 79
My children have severe food allergies, which my pediatrician says is the result of
consuming GMO foods. My family is very careful to avoid GMO foods and the related
pesticides used in growing these foods. It is a complex and difficult job due to the lack
of transparency and consumer information available.
The Island of Hawaii is the newest land on earth and one of the very few places that is
not contaminated with GMO cross-pollination. GMO free crops are more valuable in the
market because everyone across the globe recognized that naturally farmed crops are
superior in every way. I chose to locate my farm in Wainaku because of the opportunity to
grow organic fruits of the highest quality. Passing Bill 79 will ensure might rights to
grow fruit that is healthy and not contaminated by GMO crops or test plots. Voting yes
for our Aina is voting yes for the future of our children and future generations .
One day a method of genetic engineering food may result in a healthy outcome for our
bodies and our planet, but we have not reached that day yet.
Thank you for taking a stand with the people of Hawaii and voting yes on Bill 79,
