1.Kaeleen 1 I lartinez SUPPORT Bill#79 for the following reasons..
!am a mother of two, grandmother of one, and concerned about the welfare
of our islands and our natural resources for my children and future
generations. Simply stating that I feel our island is under attack by
corporate fascists, in fact our whole state of Hawaii being infiltrated by
big government industries,will probably not be sufficient enough to change
Anyone's mind on the opposition of this bill, however, the knowledge that
my kupuna and ancestors have taught me, passed down from generations of
knowledge, there is no secret that in caring for our'aina we must look
around us....all around!
I have been researching all around and trying to remain objective with
those who are pro-GMO. I have found NOTHING that gives me that feeling in
my na'ao, my gut, which justifies the use of GMO crops on our island. In
fact,the hundreds of cases of diabetes, heart attacks, autism and other
diseases are what medical journals claim to be the result of our food being
genetically modified.These medical journals, many independent third party
reports, are kept from our sight because time and time again there is
nothing that can outweigh the negative and disastrous impacts the toxic
runoff will have on our environment or the numerous negative effects to our
health. I have read articles from Monsanto, Syngenta, Dow Ag and other big
companies saying that GMO food is completely safefor human consumption.
President Obama has put these companies CEO's and upper level
administration at the head of our FDA, USDA and other government entities
that"decide"whether GMO's pose no health or environmental risks. 1 am
shocked and appalled that this continues in our country while other
countries around the world have woken up to the lies that the US government
has spread and continued to propagate false information to people in the US
all for the sake of monetary gain. Numerous countries have BANNED GMO crops
and companies from production.Why? Is this not worth investigating PRIOR
to allowing them to do scientific experiments on islands with LIMITED
resources for any disastrous ramifications? Precautionary

Now we, kanaka. mankind, are supposed to eat what will eventually soon kill
us? How does this make any sense?We are supposed to let our natural
resources get poisoned all in the name of"science"or"money"?
I wholeheartedly agree that we, kanaka of Hawaii Nei, the people of
Hawai'i, must make a no-brainer decision that UNTIL we have been provided
with all the evidence and actual proof that GMO crops are safe for not only
us as humans, but ALL living things. we MUST operate on the precautionary
principle and not allow ANY and ALL GMO crops here on our island!!

I am very well aware of my kanaka maoli status, and on behalf of my people,
my kupuna and ancestors, I faithfully ask that you, who call Hawaii home,
take care, malama our'aina. Mahalo for the opportunity to submit my
