It does not feel the same because of the threat that is being imposed by the BioTech industry. We love the Big Island because of the clean air, the clean food and the clean, clear water. All of these things are in jeopardy because of GMO crops. Ingesting the crops themselves have the potential to be a threat to our health and the pesticides sprayed on the crops are a threat to air quality, water quality and ocean life. GMO's are a threat to the health of our nation. A threat to our family's health and a threat to the well- being of all people. GMO's may even threaten the world's population because of the damage the pesticides are doing to the bees. What amount of money or profit could be worth this? We have been considering retiring to the Big Island. But those plans are on hold until we see what direction the government of the Big Island takes on Bill 79. Because of the potential threat to the bees, the entire European Union is placing a moratorium on these Genetically Engineered crops until more studies can be done and we see a return of the bees. Wouldn't it be wise for the Big Island to follow suit? As I left the Big Island I looked across the hills and valleys and the lush beauty. And although the skies were blue and clear, it was as if there was a dark cloud across it all. I do not trust it's beauty while this threat is eminent. Thank you for your time. Please vote in support of Bill 79. Sincerely, Nina Vought n c on r --ice I _< a:.rn 0 = Comm. No ° "1 ( ' 66 7 Ref. To: S,tPS M1 L Ref. Date L 0 2 2 3 7/1/2013
