I Strongly Oppose Bill 79
My Name is Elton Mow and I am an orchid grower in Kapoho. I support ALL of Agriculture and the need
for Science, Technology and Innovation as Tools.
This Bill 79 would handicap future innovation and restrict progress in Agriculture. We need the Freedom of
Choice to use the Tools available to Us.
Hawaii should band together and plan for the future on how the community can better sustane itself. It will
take a combined effort of all facets of the community
to encourage Agriculture from Backyard Gardens to a Community Gardens to a Viable Business.

Re: Bill 79 - OPPOSED
My name is Elton Mow and I am the current President of the Orchid Growers of Hawaii
(OGOH) a Statewide Association of 100 commercial orchid growers.
I would like to state that the Orchid Growers of Hawaii are against Bill 79 which would
prohibit genetically modified organisms.
The Orchid Growers of Hawaii supports Science, Technology and Innovation. Bill 79 would limit
The tools for the Floriculture Industry. Our Industry depends on constant Change and Innovation
For example Genetic Manipulation to obtain flower colors not possible through Conventional
Breeding.
We support all Agriculture and believe that we should constantly look for Innovations that will
Help our Industry. We need more tools for our toolbox not less or we will be left behind.
