Aloha,
My name is Bonnie Perata and I have a certified organic farm in Honaunau, South Kona.
We produce NON GMO agriculture on our farm. We believe in using non toxic means of farming to
keep our farm products, water, workers and all creatures on the farm healthy and happy. We feed many
people and animals the fruit and produce we grow on the farm. It is healthy and packed with nutrition.
This is the way things were grown in the past and can be our future. We can produce a lot of healthy
food using good agricultural practices with no GMO's. We can save our own seed we can keep diversity
on our farms. There is no need for GMO in our lives we can get along just fine with out it, as we have
done in the past.
Research has shown GMO crops:
• Increase pest and weed resistance
• More and more toxic chemicals are being used, not less, to kill pests and weeds, this pollutes our
land and water
• GMO pollen contaminates GMO free farms, making it impossible to save seed or have GMO free
produce.
• GMO foods compromise our health and the health of all living things.
There has been much research to prove these facts, which I have provided links to below. Please take
time to read and watch them to educate your self on the GMO issue.
GMO agriculture is making a few companies a whole lot of money while compromising our land, water,
and health. That is a huge price to pay when we really do not even need GMO in our lives.
We have to think about our the future of our planet the future for the next generations. We do not have
another Earth to start over with. Lets keep this one healthy!
