During that time I have brought over a dozen groups to Hawaii for a month at a time. The groups I bring over are college students studying ecology and the impact of food choices on the environment. We traditionally split the trip between Hawaii and Kauai but we have recently decided that Kauai is a poor destination for our students due to the activity of the bio-chemical companies on that Island. We had thought that Hawaii was a better choice but if the Big Islands succumbs to the influence of the bio-tech industry we will need to consider a new destination like Costa Rica. This would be a great loss as Hawaii has so much to offer and I love being able to bring so much revenue to the Island. Still, if the Island becomes little more than a GMO testing ground, the ever-growing number of people that are educated on this subject will stop considering the Big Island as a vacation option. Please pass Bill 79. Thank you for considering my input, Dr. Michael D. Vought Westminster College w ac) c._ O <--1 CO 73 -riC) ;i >.= 0 Comm. No,,yyy ? t '(1)((9 Ref.To: r i 126 MT(' Ref.
