Aloha,
Being born and raised on the Big Island, I am submitting my testimony in support of Bill 79. It is scientifically
proven that regularly consuming genetically modified foods (GMOs) leads to many diseases and health
issues. I refuse to buy products containing known GMO ingredients, but if we know that these ingredients and
foods are poison, why are they allowed in grocery stores?
I am writing this testimony not just for myself, but for the young children who do not have a voice. And for
those who have passed away from illnesses linked to consumption of genetically modified foods.
Vote YES on Bill 79, and give the residents of Hawaii County the opportunity to live happy, healthy lives. The
economy is run off of supply and demand, and if farmers knew that people refuse to buy GMOs, they would
start growing more organic foods to compensate. There is already a huge rush of large companies searching for
non-GMO ingredients and many natural or organic brands already carry the "Non-GMO" logo.
