Hi my name is Jack and I am testifying on behalf of a GMO free Hawaii. With the reputation Hawaii is
getting in words such as "Hawaii is now the global field center for the testing of genetically modified
crops and is being severely poisoned as a byproduct." from news articles, which was mentioned in one
I read from Monsanto in Paradise: how to stop big-ag from destroying Hawaii. It seems pretty brutal to
our state for any future living or economy. This article was published July 4 2012 a year ago. So how far
now will the news take this matter to keep people from utilizing or trusting anything from Hawaii to
Hawaii. As far as food, tourists, and international marketing. Hawaii seems to be taking a big "hit" for
what isn't worth losing all of Hawaii nei for. I strongly agree that we seem to not be able to ban Gmo's
and highly toxic pesticides, but what seem to be the most moral way of providing a win/win solution is
to restrict the big ag businesses practices. If they cannot respect the given rights to have a zone way or
buffer zone, that is so many far distance from water ways and residential areas as well as from non
GMO and NON pesticides farmers. Then they can find another place to do their dirty works.
The effects of Dead food, Dead seeds and Dead or deformed people for Hawaii does not sound
reasonable. For the profits of Big Ag Businesses. For the little percent they provide people with work. Is
not worth the large mass of harm it does to the majority of the people of Hawaii and the lands that will
be lost for.
I hope this is a reasonable testimony, otherwise. I'd say...Ban GMO & high use of toxic pesticide use.
Keep Hawaii known as Paradise, not a Bio Hazard isolated chain of Islands to stay away from.
